A locally acclaimed artist Buhle Hlatshwayo was born in Radebe, Katlehong in 1989. Buhle later moved to a children’s home in 1996 named Rhema Paradise, which catered to children who were mostly from the street. He was then given an opportunity to choose amongst different activities which were catered for by the children’s home, amongst them all, he chose to engage with the Little Artists in 1997, whereby for a couple of months he was in and out of class, uncertain of his engagement with the Little Artists.

In 1999 Buhle sold his first painting under Little Artists which was funded by Dulcie Robinson and conducted by Edward Selematsela. He later improved and showed much interest in his work in 2001 he received the first award and from there on he received numerous awards under little Artist, one which was in 2006 which culminated into a trip to London which was sponsored by Deutsche Bank, the main sponsor of the Little Artist. Buhle and seven other artists were given an opportunity to view and compare other artist work from London.

Buhle finished his schooling in 2009 at New Nation High School. On leaving school he spent much time with the Little Artists while attending Star School with the aim of improving his matric results.

He participated in numerous exhibitions under the Little Artists one which was “Black Like Us” on whereby he was now a regular artist. In 2012 he got his paintings exhibited at Circa, Evared Read, where one of his paintings was on auction.

In 2013 Buhle enrolled with the Artist Proof Studio (APS) for a year and a half, a school which specialises with print-making, with the aim of learning different techniques, he attended Saturday classes.
